Amazing work by our drivers and our crew members, slight technical issues with the car and a podium finish in Slovakiaring.
Format of the race was very challenging both for our drivers and mechanics as there were no practice sessions to get to know the track and do the initial setup of the car. Although it sounds a little bit rough and strange, we have adapted very quickly to what soon turned out to be one of the best organized endurance races we have attended in Europe. The race organizer ARC Endurance did an amazing job to the very last detail.
We were welcomed in Slovakia the least to say as brothers, both by the organizer and all the teams and colleagues. A true display of friendship and real sportsmanship.
The 4h race
Our very talented British driver Tom Day took the burden to start the race and do the first stint. Once again his performance was outstanding. After just couple of laps he brought the car to a very quick and constant pace lap by lap yet driving in a very heavy traffic and brilliantly handling some tough racing situations. After an 1h15m stint he came out of the car very exhausted: “I’ve done couple of full running marathons and I train 4 days a week but this was one of the most exhausting things I ever did”
Our Italian driver Christian Gratl took the second stint and still proved why he was one of the fastest and most talented drivers of his generation. He pulled out some insanely fast laps and started working on improving the pace of the car. Having such a driver in our team and watching him work is a true pleasure.
The Podium
Still underpowered in a 36 car field – ranging from GT and Radicals to very powerful 2 liter turbo class which made most of the field and suffering some technical issues with the exhaust system and the slight loss of engine power, our guys brought the car to the P2 in our class and the P26 in general classification. Amazing work and an amazing race!
